Sundial Cafe + Bar:
Logo Proposal

Sundial Boutique Hotel is situated at the foot of Whistler & Blackcomb Mountain, in the heart of the village. The hotel is surrounded by jaw-dropping vistas, just moments from our next outdoor adventure. They are renowned for their private hot tub suites and unparalleled service.

Sundial Boutique
Hotel Cafe + Bar

As dining preferences and experiences are rapidly changing, all-day dining has become one of the significant break-out trends in hospitality over the last few years where restaurants are keeping their doors open morning, noon and night.

The goal is to be able to offer a range of experiences, and create an atmosphere and environment that can change and adapt throughout the day. It should enable us to appeal to a broader range of guests who will be able to make Sundial Boutique Hotel restaurant their own, making it their go-to spot for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or all of the above.

Brand Strategy

The idea is to create an all-day dining concept that offers guests something different throughout the day. A place to grab a pastry and coffee in the morning, a place to warm up with a cup of coffee and a sandwich for a midday break, or a place to end the night with a glass of wine and some shareable plates with family and friends.

Look & Feel - French Cafes and Wine Bar Culture

Culinary Direction - The cuisine can be simple but thoughtfully curated and slightly elevated. Starting with a light breakfast of pastries and sandwiches to stay or on the go, soups, salads, and sandwiches for lunch, and light shareable bites in the evening to go with your favourite glass of wine.

Ambiance & Design - The experience is like being on the streets of Paris at a French cafe. It’s a place where you can spend a few minutes or a few hours. In the evenings, the atmosphere transitions to a sophisticated wine bar with great music to relax and unwind. The space is a warm and intimate setting. A mix of rich colours and textures, vibrant floral arrangements, a mix of bistro tables and comfortable lounge seating, low lighting and an inviting bar.

Brand Name

The team recommended STELLA as a potential brand name. STELLA is a Latin word that means "star". Seeing as the “sun” is a giant star we thought it was pragmatically appropriate. It is also very euphonic, and also has a feminine air to it which matches the French Cafes and Wine Bar culture direction.

Challenge
- The creative challenge was to design a logo symbol that could represent the overall dining ambiance and experience of the Sundial Boutique Hotel Cafe + Bar, while maintaining an elegant and minimalistic aesthetic.

Solution - I have reinforce the "French Cafe" style by developing a symbol with an "arch" and letter "S," as well as potentially exploring a "star" element on the logo—reflecting Stella's brand essence.
